Also a children’s book author, Jim has written picture books for for children, including the Golden Book version of Jim’s 2008 short film Your Friend the Rat. As well as books in collaboration with illustrator Anna-Laura Cantone.

“Mr. Smudge” was published in Italy as “Mr. Scarabocchio” and is about a children’s drawing that believes he is a mistake but learns that he is just different and finds his way in the world. The book is currently only available in Italy and in Italian
Your Friend the Rat is the Golden Book version based on Jim’s 2008 short film of the same title. About the shared history of rats along side humans, Your Friend the Rat is available on Disney+ and on the Ratatouille DVD. The book is available as well
The third collaboration with Anna Laura Cantone Max and Mike was published in Italy as Max e Mike. It tells the story of a little girl named Max and her trusty dog Mike and their adventures digging in the backyard. The book is only available in Italy and Italian.
